Guidance for using HeartTimer on Apple Watch and iPhone.

Heartimer is a wellness companion designed to help you get the most from your wellness activities without stress. It gently tracks elapsed time and heart rate, and lets you set simple presets so you can stay in a comfortable zone. There’s no pause/resume concept — sessions are intentionally simple: start and stop. Notifications are non‑intrusive with gentle vibrations and a subtle, privacy‑preserving alert.

Designed to support awareness — not to replace your judgment.

Metrics + Controls
Shows current time and heart rate with controls to Start, Stop (during a session) or Reset (when idle), and open Settings.
Concentric Indicators
Outer ring shows time laps against your time limit (if set). Inner ring shows progress toward your heart‑rate target with a marker dot.
Metrics Only
Large, uncluttered metrics plus min/max/average heart rate.
Chart

Add Marker
Tap the pause icon to drop a timestamped marker (it does not pause the session).

Time ring
Shows progress toward your time limit. After reaching the limit, the ring completes a lap and continues from the top.
Heart rate ring
Shows progress toward your heart‑rate target. A small white dot marks the current position.
HR exceeded marker
A short red arc near the top indicates you’re above the target.
Chart markers
Shown as vertical dashed lines aligned to when you placed them.
What are markers?
Lightweight timestamps you drop during a session to note moments like a pace change, a break, or how you felt.
How to add one?
Tap the pause icon (||) during a session. This adds a marker — it doesn’t pause the timer.
Where do they appear?
As vertical dashed lines on the Chart page, aligned to the elapsed time when you placed them.
Why use them?
They help you reflect on your session without micromanaging — just tap to mark the moment and keep moving.
Health access
Allow Health permissions so the app can read heart rate.
Gentle guidance
Use a moderate time limit and heart‑rate target to avoid overexertion.
Repeat alerts
Enable in Settings to get periodic reminders when exceeding presets.
Thermal warnings
Optionally enable warnings to avoid overheating the device during long sessions or in hot environments (e.g., Finnish sauna).
Suitable environments
Use Heartimer for gentle wellness activities like a whirlpool, hot tub, steam bath, or sauna. Always be mindful of heat exposure and hydration.
Safety first
If you feel unwell, stop immediately and cool down. Consult your physician if you have any health concerns.
